NaPoWriMo Poem #13 - Black, White and Grey

Black, White and Grey (villanelle)

They see the world in black and white,
the young ones schooling on the hill,
while my old self in grey delights.

Was I, when young, convinced of right?
To say, of those I thought ill,
'They see the world in black and white'?

Why 'us and them'? It seems so trite
to forget diplomatic skill -
while my old self in grey delights.

To not develop IDIC sight
can cause differences to kill.
They see the world in black and white.

Variety brings the world to light -
our sames coloured by a changing trill,
while my old self in grey delights.

The shades that make this world so bright
are what we give each other still.
They see the world in black and white,
while my old self in grey delights.
