A Sonnet to Spring (sonnet)
When celebrating springtime, we watch things grow
My daughter will plant her sunflower seeds
They sit on the window sill in a row
Red plastic cups holding all the plant needs
Sunshine sparkles through our front window pane
Streaks of colours and multitudes of hues
The glass covered by scribbles nearly arcane
Thick, painted crayon pays its childhood dues
At preschool a balloon is filled with toys
And stickers, then hit until it bursts
The energized assortment of girls and boys
Spring forward seeking their just desserts
When bunny rabbits jump, or melt, away
Sun shines clear and the earth breathes a new day
