Are we done yet?
Can we stop, pet?
Now I will sweat
If this does not set!
in one quiet moment
tea in hand, hot and soothing
nothing more I ask
not presents or applause, please
just time for only myself
Leaders talking, planning for camp next weekend
Talking leads to venting - does your troop do it?
Others who aren't reliable call to say
"I can't come now" - last minute shuffle to find
Who can come, ladies?
Abrasive is how they say we are being
That's what happens when we are strong together
Spunky women taking our girls for a ride
Growing greater together we can do it!
We'll do anything!
a single green eye
grinning from the darkness round
peers out at the world
Before gunpowder and things that go 'bang'
Mankind still knew how to make a kill
With sticks of wood and strings that went 'twang'
No king tells us that we must master this skill
With long sticks taller than a grown man
That to fail in our duty means a bill
In modern times shooting a bow is weird
Not something that we practice from our youth
And places where archery is cheered
Would have techniques the elders would find uncouth
Let them take aim
Oh, tea kettle of coca love broken
Oh, tea love broken to repair to complete
I now to repair or devote
Two new go through to loving
Me, I vote for beautiful, joyful morningtide
Now vocative another maddening problem
Thou thief go beauty avenging!
Today’s prompt (optional, as always), is an oldie-but-a-goodie: the homophonic translation. Find a poem in a language you don’t know, and translate it into English based on the look of the words and their sounds
face in the water
floating toward the future
a swimmer is born
The world goes spinning past us every day,
A crazy, non-stop merry-go-round ride.
Each moment too full of things we must hide -
Stumbling and dizzy, we must find our way;
Knowing we haven't time to act out this play.
Behind the scenes, the darkness abides
Full of the terrors time has cast aside,
Awaiting the moment we must stop and stay.
The ride stops; the curtain falls; and we see -
A jumble of used up nothings crowding
Forward; pushing into the candid light.
This space we thought ours, we filled with debris;
An unthinking testament. We fling
a turtle rises
behind cows in a field
it's shell made of grass
speckles of sagebrush dotting
this small, but great, A'Tuin
Easter eggs are so much fun!
This one's green, it must be mine.
This one's blue! I have this one!
I like chocolate, it is fine.
I can eat this egg and more!
Look - these cars are in a line!
Gramps! You must open up the door!
There's the snow for me to play in.
Why is smashing snow a chore?
I'll put the cars into this bin.
I can do this game all day,
If I do it fast, I'll win!
I wish that we could always stay.
